Generational curses can be a reality for many people. The Oahspe Bible (the official Scriptures of the Faithist tradition) teaches that souls can continue lingering in the earthly plane of existence. Those who have deceased relatives who were involved with various forms of witchcraft, demon worship or other dark practices, often remain with their living relatives causing many problems, often times health related (both physical and mental). Other problems may include finances, housing, persecution or hatred from others, and so on. These souls can influence others who can in turn cause troubles for the living.
It is taught that evil spirits only affect those humans who are like them, this is not necessarily the case with souls/spirits of humans. They can and do affect other people, either from leaching from them spiritually and draining them both emotionally and physically, or plaguing them with spiritual phenomena. Spiritual phenomena can be anything from moving items in a room, opening and closing cabinets and doors, turning on/off electronics (televisions, mobile devices, etc), catching a glimpse of a person or shadow, to literally throwing objects at their victims or at walls and windows. Such events are quite disturbing for most people, causing some to experience mental breakdowns.
To break these generational curses, one should make reparation for those ancestors, asking Jehovih for their forgiveness and undergoing personal suffering (sacrificial or reparational suffering) on behalf of those souls. When a person has these generational curses upon them, the person is considered spiritually unclean, and while one can pray to the Father and give Him praise or ask for assistance in certain matters, the souls of those ancestors who continue to consume their living relatives are still there. This is why reparation is necessary.
Sharing the truth from the Scriptures with these souls is very important. Reading aloud the essentials of the Oahspe, or other Scriptures related to how they can find freedom from the darkness and enter into the Light of the Father of Greatness is one of the best methods of assisting in releasing them from their earthly bonds. Pray for them to find the light and to be attentive to your reading aloud, even if you only whisper the reading if necessary (this latter method might be necessary if you have family members in the same household that do not share your beliefs). Before doing so, ask the Father and His holy celestial beings to surround you and to protect you from any evil or dark influences. One must be careful in this practice so as not to overly anger some of these dead relatives. Gently nudge them to listen to the Scriptures being read to them, but never demand anything of them. This has been a practice of Faithists for a very long time and has been helpful to these souls in moving on.
